Castello di Verduno
Barbaresco, Riserva, Rabaja, 2010
justerini & brooks tasting note
A more serious, earthier wine than the estate's other Barbarescos, very fine intense and linear. Incredibly precise and gloriously fine flavours of forest berry, strawberry, undergrowth and stone. Profound and complete without carrying any excess, this is a tremendously stylish and agile Barbaresco. Sensational. A selection from the higher part of the Rabaja vineyard, south west facing and with more calcium than many other Barbarescos, giving it a certain power and tannic structure. The wine is fermented longer and slower than the other Barbaresco followed by two and a half years ageing in large Slavonian oak casks. Only 3000 bottles were made.
