Barolo, Comune del Verduno, 2019
A bouquet laced with strawberries and cherries, lifted and harmonious, with sappy, pulpy blackberries and a kick of salt on the finish. Present but fine tannins all in great shape and easy to taste already despite it being bottled as recently as January 2023. A blend of five vineyards all in Verduno: Pisapola, Campasso, Boscatto, Rocche dell’Olmo and Riva Rocca. The first four plots are co-fermented whilst the bigger Riva Rocca plot is blended in later. Fermented in stainless steel and aged in 25hl Slavonian oak cask for three years.
critic reviews
These village-specific wines are growing in popularity, and among the various expressions on the market today, this wine from Verduno is really quite special thanks to its highly distinctive floral aromas and its delicate sense of inner balance. A new project being inaugurated with this vintage, the Fratelli Alessandria 2019 Barolo del Comune di Verduno shows a fine, streamlined mouthfeel with polished tones of river stone, crushed rose and licorice root. The aromas are refined and fragile. This is a 20,000-bottle release.
