Barolo, Brea Vigna Ca'Mia, 2012
Even larger framed than the Villero but with the freshness of the Rocche. Brawny but lively, layered flavours of sweet hedgerow fruit, cherry and touches of dry stones and herb. Tremendous, strength, depth and energy. A real thoroughbred. A 60 year old Serralunga vineyard with a relatively high amount of stony limestone soils as well as clay that faces south east - situated on the eastern side of the commune.
critic reviews
The 2012 Barolo Brea Vigna Ca' Mia shows a much more finessed side of this great Serralunga site rather than the power that is much more typical. Rose petal, lavender, mint, sweet red cherries, licorice and dried herbs are laced together in a feminine, gracious Barolo endowed with striking translucence and pure class. Although not especially typical of its site, and a bit light relative to some recent vintages, the 2012 Ca' Mia is stunningly beautiful just the same.
