Barolo, Brea Vigna Ca'Mia, 2018

Ready,Youthful
2024 - 2040
justerini & brooks tasting note

Aromatically more compact than the Castiglione Falleto crus, Brea is more tightly wound, with a more vertical structure lifting the blueberries, cassis, and brambly fruits, with a mineral, stony, salty core than keeps the mouth-watering. This certainly has everything in place for long term cellaring if desired, but then again, its youthful freshness, vivid fruits and incredible persistence make this a pretty exciting wine from the get-go. The oldest vines on the estate. A 60-year-old Serralunga vineyard with a relatively high amount of limestone soils as well as clay that faces southeast - situated on the eastern side of the commune.

critic reviews

88/100Antonio Galloni,Vinous

The 2018 Barolo Brea Vigna Ca' Mia is one of the better wines in this range. There is good definition and reasonable balance, in the attenuated style of this vintage. Dark cherry, leather, spice, tobacco, dried herbs and lavender lend nuance. Like all of the Brovia 2018s, the Brea is light in body and structure, with modest persistence and a relatively short finish.
