Barolo, Garblet Sue, 2018

Available Vintages
justerini & brooks tasting note

The more iron-rich, clay soils of Garblet tends to produce broader Barolos, and this is also true in 2018. Fuller in fruit and richer in tannin, the ’18 offers up more curvaceous, rich red fruits, notes of blood orange, sandalwood, spices and herbs. Rounder, easy to appreciate and with plenty of character. A plot within Altenasso. A lower vineyard with clay limestone facing west /southwest. Aged for three years in large used oak casks.

critic reviews

95/100Monica Larner,Robert Parker Wine Advocate

The Brovia 2018 Barolo Garblet Sue' reveals a fine texture with seamless aromas of purple and red forest fruits that appear delicately and softly. Those lifted primary notes are followed by a filigree of spice, tar, truffle and fragrant earth. The wine closes with a pretty floral note that is a mix of rose and violet. This is one of the most elegant wines of the vintage.

87/100Antonio Galloni,Vinous

The 2018 Barolo Garblèt Sue' is a very hard wine to taste. It shows very little depth, a short, attenuated finish, little complexity and very few of the signatures of this Castiglione Falletto site.
