Gaja
Barbaresco, Sori Tildin, 2001
justerini & brooks tasting note
A powerful, initially stern wine that, after some aeration, unravels into an impressive expansive palate of berry, currant, black truffle and coffee bean flavours, harnessed by ripe, fine-grained tannins. Excellent persistence and plenty of fruit on the finish suggest a good long life.

The 2001 Sorì Tildìn is stellar. It shows the typical Tildìn pointedness, with gorgeous delineation throughout. The fruit remains fabulously rich and vibrant from start to finish. This is a very refined showing from Angelo Gaja. The 2001 is still quite young and appears to have a bright future.
