Barbaresco, Sori Tildin, 2010
A vineyard of 3.4ha sitting at the top of the hill at 320m altitude with a due south exposure. A very serious wine that offers impeccable balance, for this is powerful yet refined, generous but with much more held in reserve. Tense, focused, svelte flavours, complex, echoing notes of ripe, sweet dark berry fruits, crisp fresh cherries. A long powerful and expansive finish. Aged for a year in large french oak cask and a year in smaller barriques, a third new oak.
critic reviews
Good full medium red. Subtly complex aromas of redcurrant, strawberry, graphite, mocha and spices. Seriously deep and fine-grained, with dazzling mid-palate minerality energizing the wine's fruit and drawing out the finish. Outstanding balance and vinosity here. The very long finish leaves behind a sexy smoky quality. This warm site can be tough for these low-vigor vines in a hot year but this wine is sensational in 2010.
