    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note

A totally different kettle of fish to the Cascina Francia, more opulent and expressive fruit, less mineral. In addition to the corpulent, ripe hedgerow fruit flavours are strong overtones of liquorice and cinnamon spice, finishing on notes of crème de mure and sloe. This is fleshy, boisterous and velvety – completely seductive. A west-facing clay-based vineyard in the Serralunga commune that sits 450 metres above sea level, that yields Barolos wines of lush, ample fruit flavours. Ageing is for 4 years in large used oak “Botti.”

    Antonio Galloni,

A much more overt, powerful wine, the 2010 Barolo Cerretta races across the palate with explosive fruit and tons of pure, unbridled energy. The Cerretta is an immediate, voluptuous wine with so much fruit that the tannins of the vintage are nearly buried. It will be fascinating to see how Conterno’s 2010s age. The Cerretta is shaping up to be magical. Bottled only in magnums.
