Barolo, Riserva, Ca d'Morissio, 2003

(still in barrel) Very pale red. Exotic raspberry liqueur and rose petal aromas, with suggestions of molasses and orange peel; I was reminded of Philip Togni's Ca' Togni sweet wine. Sweet, lush and deep, showing uncanny aromatic character for the vintage. There's a liqueur-like sweetness running through the wine that resembles a finer, more perfumed version of an Henri Bonneau Chateauneuf. The wine's acids and tannins will need time to harmonize with the fruit. Potentially one of the most impressive wines of the vintage.
