Giuseppe Mascarello
Barolo, Villero, 2018
justerini & brooks tasting note
A Barolo of lightness and finesse with wild strawberries, raspberry and gorgeously floral perfumes. Medium bodied with fine tannins and a long supple finish. Villero is a Castiglione Falletto cru on compact clay soils facing south west, giving rounder more generous wines that nonetheless maintain a certain elegance.

Coming to market one year later than its peers, the Giuseppe Mascarello 2018 Barolo Villero delivers warm sensations with autumnal aromas of chestnut, peat moss, dark fruit and wild mushroom. The wine is consistently fine and silky in terms of texture, yet this vintage delivers an open-knit approach and soft tannins that give it a more immediate drinking window.
