Barbaresco, San Stunet, Vecchie Viti, 2016

The first ever, and until now only, bottling of San Stunet Riserva, the 2016 was remarkable on our visit. Super-fragrant and beautifully chiselled, its bright mineral intensity, florality and herbaceousness conspire to produce an extraordinarily complex, thrilling Barbaresco. Red fruits include strawberry, redcurrants and pomegranate, whilst elegant hints of dried rose, sage and peppermint bring a high-toned complexity to the wine. So tonic and fresh on the finish. Stunning.
