Barolo, Arborina, 2005
justerini & brooks tasting note
A towering example of Arborina, traditionally one of the sturdier styles of La Morra Barolo, deep, rich but lifting. With superb dense sweet flavours of sloe, red grape, mulberry, spices and blackthorn, this is incredibly intense and chewy for a 2005 whilst retaining the vintage’s wonderful lift and fresh acidity. A top-notch 2005.

The 2005 Barolo Arborina has aged nicely and is in a beautiful place to provide fine drinking. Crushed flowers, sweet tobacco, cherries, mint and orange peel are all supported by veins of Arborina tannin. Beautifully balanced and persistent throughout, the 2005 offers striking harmony from start to finish. I especially like the aromatics here.
