Founded by Giuseppe Mori in 1980, Il Marroneto is a small, highly regarded estate in Montalcino, today run by his son Alessandro Mori, whose traditional, minimal-intervention approach has become closely associated with the domaine. The estate comprises around 5.8 hectares of vineyards, situated at approximately 400 metres above sea level, where the cooler conditions help preserve acidity and freshness in the Sangiovese. The wines are made with a distinctly traditional sensibility, favouring purity, freshness and a clear expression of place over overt extraction or sweetness. Il Marroneto is particularly known for its elegant, finely structured Brunello di Montalcino, with the estate’s flagship Madonna delle Grazie coming from a small parcel close to the Sant’Antimo Abbey and regarded as one of the great individual expressions of the appellation. Across the range, the wines combine fragrant red fruit and floral character with savoury, mineral complexity, refined tannins and an impressive sense of energy, giving Il Marroneto a distinctive identity among the finest producers of Brunello di Montalcino.
