Le Chiuse di Simonetta Valiani

An estate with great pedigree, turning out traditional soulful and crisp Brunellos from the cool subzone of Montosoli in the North Eastern part of Montalcino. The estate’s origins lie with the Biondi-Santi family. Tancredi gave Le Chiuse to his daughter Fiorella. She then rented the land to her brother Franco Biondi-Santi until 1986 when she died and the estate past to her daughter Simonetta Valiani. Together with her husband Nicolo Magnelli, Simonetta set about restoring the property on the estate and began the project of bottling their own wine. The estate consists of 18ha planted between 300 and 500 metres above sea level, planted with Sangiovese Grosso that was a selection massale from old vines on Biondi Santi’s Il Greppo estate.
