Bannockburn, Pinot Noir, 2024
Ripe and silky with dark cherry and red fruits mingling to supple and smooth, floral and round, fresh finish. Bannockburn is a blend of the 4 vineyards: 30% Cornish Point, 10% Calvert, 30% MacMuir and 30% Elms. Fermented with 20% whole clusters and matured for 13 months in 25% new French oak, the remainer used. Most of the vines sit at around 30 years old, the only vines under 20 come from MacMuir – a single vineyard that they rate as their future star.
critic reviews
The 2024 Bannockburn Pinot Noir is dark fruited and plush, with nutmeg biscuit and cranberry, blood plum and mulberry. The wine is exotic and peppered with baking spicesone assumes this is via the oak rather than the fruit. 2024 was a superb vintage in Central Otago, and the wines that I have seen so far echo this. It seems this wine just needs a little more timeor a decantin order to show its best. It's very impressive regardless. 13.8% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.
