Langland, Chenin Blanc, David & Nadia, Swartland, 2024
The debut release of a single vineyard planted on pure white granite sand, east-facing, in a cool side valley of the Paardeberg, which is very different compared to Plat Bos, which sits on the warmer northwestern slope on similar soils. Limey, juicy, full of blossom, basil and mint with a fine, integrated acidity, and fresh fruit character. A single 600L barrel bottling, equating to just 800 bottles in total.
critic reviews
The 2024 Chenin Blanc Langland is a debut release from east-facing vines planted in 1971, aged in neutral oak barrels. It has a lovely bouquet with pear, wet wool and yellow plum scents, hints of jasmine and broom joining the fray with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a resinous texture, touches of white pepper and ginger that dovetail into a harmonious and persistent finish. Excellent.
