We were impressed by the 2022 Chenin when we tasted it. It is a wine with excellent clarity and brightness of tangy, ripe fruit, a lovely contoured shape, yet the acidity is zippy and there is a prominent saline finish. Beautifully judged, taut and vital with a long nutty finish, there is little trace of the heat of the harvest in this. Produced from four vineyards, 70% on Paardeberg granite, 30% on iron rich soils. The grapes spend 24 hours in a cold room, then they are whole cluster pressed, settled naturally and racked off in to barrel for fermentation and aging in a mix of 500, 400 and 300L formats. Aged sur lie for 10 months.
