Aliaxe, Tinto, Rias Baixas, 2023
An indigenous blend of 60% Caíño, 20% Espadeiro and 20% Loureiro Tinto, fully destemmed and matured for 16 months in neutral French oak. Fragrant and bright, with notes of redcurrant and wild cranberry. The palate is bursting with juicy and crunchy red fruits, with wild herbs and a touch of white pepper. Light-bodied, with a refreshing glacial purity. Best served slightly chilled.
critic reviews
There is something slightly blurry in the 2023 Aliaxe. It doesn't have the clarity, purity and precision of the 2022 I tasted next to it. It was a year with average temperatures and rain. The wine was produced with 60% Caino and 20% each Espadeiro and Loureiro Tinto, fermented in open-top vats with 30 days of maceration and matured in neutral 220- and 300-liter French oak barrels for 16 months. It has notable acidity (7.1 grams) and flavors of acid berries. 1,800 bottles produced. It was bottled in June 2025.
