Hermanos Pecina
Vendemia Seleccionada, Hermanos Pecina, 1997
justerini & brooks tasting note
The wine was bottled after three years in American oak casks, during which time it was manually and traditionally racked six times to ensure a natural sedimentation of lees without the need for fining or filtration. It has, since 2000, been in magnums, gaining the trademark maturity that only this region can cultivate. It still has lovely dried red fruits of cherry, plum and cranberry, there is a sweetness to the fruit though, which is remarkable given the age. Oak spice of vanilla, coconut and cinnamon round out the mid palate. Dried mushrooms, black tea, and a lilting hint of tobacco leaf blossoms on the finish.
