    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note

Three plots from the village of San Martin de Valdeiglesias that used to form part of the GR10 blend, as of 2017 they decided to separate them out and offer a different village bottling. Where Cadalso and Cenicentos have a more continental profile and benefit from warm days and cold nights, the San Martin village has a more Mediterranean expression, delivering wines with more sumptuous yet sapid Garnacha flavours. It has quickly become a favourite of the 4 Monos range, offering up notes of black olives, heather and pine with a levity and freshness that feels unique to the Sierra de Gredos. 2018 saw the addition of an old oak tine in the cellar, meaning that Tierra de Luna and Cien Lanzas are now fully fermented in neutral cask (the others see a bit of concrete too). The tannins are much finer as a result. Vineyard elevation averages 800m and the soils have a higher proportion of clay over granite. Aged for 15 months in used oak.
