Alesia, Santa Cruz Mountains, Chardonnay, 2019
Pure, delicate and detailed, the 2019 Alesia Chardonnay is comprised of a blend of Mt. Pajara and Horseshoe fruit aged for 12 months in barrique, most of which was old. Refined and detailed, with not a hair out of place, this is a translucent and very pure mountain Chardonnay from the Rhys team, citrus flecked with touches of smoke and salt, finishing with a cool note of butter.
critic reviews
The 2019 Alesia Chardonnay Santa Cruz Mountains is a vibrant snapshot of the Rhys style, albeit considerably more approachable on release. On the nose, it combines saline freshness with aromas of ripe yellow apple, Asian pear and citrus blossom. The palate is immediately open and incisive, finishing on a pitch-perfect note that continuously gains volume with increased oxygen exposure.
The 2019 Chardonnay Alesia (Santa Cruz Mountains) is gorgeous. Bright, floral and translucent, the 2019 is impeccably polished from start to finish. Lemon peel, white flowers and crushed rocks give this appellation level Chardonnay tons of class. It is one of the overachievers in this range.
