Red Dust, Dundee Hills AVA, Pinot Noir, 2017

A new first expression site at 900 ft of elevation in the Dundee Hills. The soils here are red loamy basalt shot through with pebbles and crystalline elements, the rocks here the product of the great Dundee volcanic landslides, and today just one decomposed stage away from becoming top-soil in their own right. The resulting wine is one of the most elegant and supple in the entire range, a pure embrace of stony Pinot fruit that caresses the palate as notes of autumn raspberry, rosehip, red currant and wild strawberry mingle with pliant, subtle yet complex minerality.
