Yamhill Close, Yamhill Carlton AVA, Pinot Noir, 2017

A 196 case cuvee that comes from the east facing Stardance vineyard, whose geology is composed of fine sheets of stony basalt interspersed with iron rich clay, a soil whose horizontal layering allows for good penetration of the roots and excellent mineral uptake. Smoke and dark iron inflected fruit flood the senses intermingling with a note of toasty reduction that blows off quickly, recognisably Liger-Belair in style, with fine grained, supple dark saline fruit and clear wild strawberries in the background. Precision minerality dominates the finish.
