Bordeaux 2025: Brane Cantenac and Haut Bailly
Henri Lurton celebrated his family’s 100th year at Brane Cantenac with a superb 2025. This was a real highlight of our tastings, a wine full of verve and class, packed with velvety textured fruit and glorious, powdery tannins. Not only is this one of the finest wines in Margaux, it ranks amongst the very best wines of the whole Medoc, a true super-second in terms of quality with a very modest price tag of £237 per six.
Further south in the rolling slopes of Pessac Leognan, Véronique Sanders has released her excellent Haut Bailly 2025. This is a really accomplished effort. Described by Neal Martin as “Svelte, harmonious and tender, this ranks amongst the best vintages from Haut-Bailly in recent years”, Jane Anson suggests you “give it a good 6 to 8 years in bottle, then get ready to celebrate”.
