Château Grand Village

Château Grand Village, Rouge, Bordeaux Supérieur, 2024

justerini & brooks tasting note

The 2024 Grand Village opens with spicy herbal notes, followed by black fruit aromas and expressions of plum, raspberry and red cherries. Mineral undertones mingle with hints of violets and iris. A vibrant fruit core of sweet griotte fruit underpins the mid-palate, supported by floral and earthy elements. Good volume, and energy. The finish offers a distinct salinity, echoing the floral and mineral notes with a sweet, spicy touch and a hint of orange rind. Perhaps not the length of the very best vintages, but still a really impressive, nervy Grand Village.

Medium to deep garnet-purple colored. Comes skipping out with notes of red currants and wild strawberries, plus nuances of dusty soil and lavender. The light to medium-bodied palate is graceful and refreshing with silky tannins and a red berry lift on the finish.

The 2024 Grand Village was picked from September 25 to October 4. It has a well-defined bouquet with brambly red fruit and briar aromas opening with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins and a lovely, sapid finish. This is light on its feet with a little more substance on the finish compared to its peers. The 2024 comes recommended.

Translucent pale ruby, fresh reducrrant fruits, shape and aromatics of a cooler vintage, this starts off softly but builds gently and slowly in power. Charming, appealing, gentle red berry fruits, spice and smoke, an extremely pretty Grand Village, give it a year or two in bottle before drinking. Harvest 25 September to 4 October. Lafleur team working under Julie and Baptiste Guinaudeau. 30% new oak for ageing.

90-92/100Yohan Castaing,Robert Parker Wine Advocate

A floral, elegant bouquet of violets, iris, lilac and mulberries introduces the 2024 Grand Village, a moderately weighted, juicy and seamless wine. It offers a lively core of fruit framed by refined yet slightly austere tannins, lending the wine both charm and underlying structure.
