A different profile of wine to Les Douyes, more chiselled chalkier tannins, a tighter, finer style of wine but with tremendous ripeness. Finesse with a strong Mediterranean lilt. This is so harmonious, deep and fine, yet the fruit is so inviting and ripe – the gloriously round, pliable tannins knitting the flavours together seamlessly. The fruit is dark showing floral cherry blossom notes, plum and plum liqueur fruit flavours, with hints of sweet damson and black cherry. Gloriously precise and velvety. Stunningly sensual. Haut Coustias is their top single vineyard, south east facing, and is a similar blend to the Seigneurs – 60% Mourvèdre, 20% Grenache, 20% Syrah. Aged for 20-22 months in neutral oak barrels, bottled without fining or filtration.
