The 2023 Cissac has a classic, tobacco-scented bouquet, a little earthy in style. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, tobacco-tinged red fruit, fine grip and tension with satisfying weight on the finish. A bit rustic but it has personality.
Austere even after ageing, this has firm tannins, cranberry and bilberry fruit, touches of cherry pit and black pepper spice. Give this another few years to soften. Owner Marie Vialard, Oenoconseil consultants.
Compared to its predecessor, the 2023 Cissac presents a more dense and austere profile, with aromas of cassis, spices, gentian and licorice. Medium-bodied, chewy and rich, its firm and concentrated with structured tannins and a long, mineral but dry finish. This is a blend of 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot and 2% Malbec.
