Syrah, 2018
justerini & brooks tasting note
Gaining in popularity with climate change. “15-20 years ago you could only ripen Syrah one in five years but now we have intensely fruity ripe Syrah almost every year.” The last variety they pick usually in the first or second week of October about 4-5 days after Blaufrankisch. IN an effort to minimise harsh extraction and reflect the cool elegant side of the variety, the Syrah is the only wine that doesn’t see any foot treading. Brambly with varietal flavours of black pepper, hawthorn and lavender, this is a very accomplished, characterful Syrah that is sure to surprise many.
