Gewurztraminer, Les Treilles du Loup, 2024
Formerly known as Cuvée Théo, Les Treilles du Loup comes from 40 to 50-year-old vines in the Wolfreben lieu-dit, between the Clos des Capucins and the village of Kaysersberg, on sandy, silty soils over granite pebbles. Off-dry at 10g/l residual sugar, it is full-bodied yet notably fresh and composed, showing fine notes of apple blossom, rose petals and chamomile tea. The gentle sweetness brings juiciness and balance rather than weight, making this a gently aromatic but highly drinkable Gewurztraminer. Aged for 10 months in old oak foudrés.
critic reviews
The 2024 Gewurztraminer Treilles du Loup is named after the lieu-dit Wolfsreben at the foot of the Schlossberg on granitic sand and pebbles. A subtle rose scent is beautifully restrained on the nose. The palate brings juicy mandarin with rose overtones but juiciness is the word. The lip-smacking freshness is rounded, like in a ripe tangerine, but always with that floral perfume. Freshness totally dominates the 10 grams per liter of residual sugar. (Dry)
