Riesling, Altenbourg, 2024
From the limestone-rich soils of the Altenbourg, a steep, south-west facing slope just beneath the Grand Cru Furstentum, it comes across as more reserved on the nose, with delicate aromatics. The palate is driven by a vibrant, sherbet-like acidity, delivering power and structure rather than overt fruit, with notes of grapefruit and white pepper spice leading to a long, savoury finish.
critic reviews
The 2024 Riesling Altenbourg, from limestone, is supple and smooth on the nose, giving away just a touch of lemon. The palate is vividly lemony, beautifully fragrant with chervil and juicy with white peach. Cool, fresh breeziness takes the attention. Underneath, cool stone brings such fragrance, such length, such brightness. This is supremely elegant, slender and long. (Bone-dry)
