Riesling, Grand Cru, Schlossberg, Cuvée Ste Catherine, 2012
Tightly wound and displaying lots of mineral power alongside notes of fine lime fruit, verbena bergamot. Savoury, saline minerals pepper the palate, sleek and refined but also rich in concentration and power. Glorious stuff, seamless and harmonious and very very long. The Schlossberg St Catherine always comes from the mid Slopes of the Schlossberg vineyard, from 50-60 year old vines and as such tends to offer up a glorious marriage of the elegance of the high toned higher slopes and the richness and power of straight St Catherine's lower slopes. 14% abv.

Straw yellow color. Bright piercing aromas of white stone fruit, lemon verbena and candied kumquat. Then light and lively thanks to bright acids extending the candied apple flavors on the long finish. Sneaky concentration and very refined, this is a knockout wine and much better than the Ste.Catherine. Always the latest Riesling grapes to be harvested for dry wine production (with the exception of the Inedit) terroir lovers such as I will be interested to know that the grapes used to make this wine were harvested three four days later than the Schlossberg Riesling, and it’s amazing how different the wines are.
