Château de Fargues, Sauternes, 2025
De Fargues 2025 is a blend of 80% Sémillon, 20% Sauvignon Blanc. Elegant and poised but still vivacious and opulent on the nose. There is power here and plenty of noble apricot notes allied to high-toned mandarin, honey-drenched peach and nectarine with a hint of sweet pineapple. A little fragrant elderflower, nutmeg and lemon curd brighten the finish. This is generous and rich on the palate but still has the refinement you expect from de Fargues.
critic reviews
The 2025 Château de Fargues is another Sauternes that does not come racing out of the blocks on the nose. Surprisingly understated at first, it almost reluctantly unveils a complex bouquet with wild honey, white flowers and very faint petrolly scents, all beautifully defined. The palate is well balanced, with a fine bead of acidity, fresh and vibrant, quite tensile, with plenty of energy driving the finish. It is a Sauternes-lovers' Sauternes.
Marmalade, saffron, smoked caramel, elderflower, concentrated and luscious.
