critic reviews

94/100Lisa Perrotti-Brown,The Wine Independent

A blend of 87% Semillon and 13% Sauvignon Blanc, the 2018 Doisy-Vedrines has 132 g/L of residual sugar and is pale to medium straw-gold in color. Playing things close to its chest, the 2018 delivers notions of fragrant cedar, spice cake, fresh ginger, and shaved almonds to begin, before revealing decadent notes of peach preserves and ripe pineapple, followed by wafts of acacia honey and candle wax. The palate is densely laden with opulent tropical and stone fruit layers, framed by just enough freshness, finishing long and hedonic.

The 2018 Doisy-Védrines has a very sensual and, for this Barsac cru, understated bouquet that gradually unfolds to reveal dried honey, almond and touches of ginger and orange blossom. The palate is very viscous, as is customary with Doisy-Védrines, offering notes of lemon curd, quince, apricot and a touch of spice on the finish. It is quintessentially Barsac with a satisfying, long aftertaste.

Pale to medium lemon-gold in color, the 2018 Doisy-Vedrines gives up bold notes of warm pineapple, baked pears and spice cake with nuances of orange blossoms, toasted almonds and baking bread. The palate provides a great intensity of tropical and citrus flavors with a racy line of freshness and long, spicy finish.
