    Never the most famous Sauternes but perennially a favourite of ours. We loved it for its unique mix of intensity, lightness and transparency. The 2016 does not disappoint. Lifted, bright notes of pale honey and lemon blossom. Intense and refreshing lemon zest flavours. A clear, fresh fruitiness and minerality that fuse seamlessly with richer notes of apricot and wild honey. The most moreish, lively and balanced Sauternes we tasted. Wonderful. A blend of 83% Semillon and 17% Sauvignon. It is a year where there was lots of botrytis early, the first “trie” represented 25 percent of the final blend which is rare. Harvest was between the 28th September and 28th October.

    The 2018 Doisy-Vedrines has a pale to medium lemon-yellow color. It starts rather closed, giving up notes of lemon curd, fresh pears, and crushed rocks, plus paraffin wax and cedar. On the palate there are pure citrus and pear flavors, with spicy sparks, and soft acidity, finishing opulent.

    The 2018 Doisy-Védrines has a very sensual and, for this Barsac cru, understated bouquet that gradually unfolds to reveal dried honey, almond and touches of ginger and orange blossom. The palate is very viscous, as is customary with Doisy-Védrines, offering notes of lemon curd, quince, apricot and a touch of spice on the finish. It is quintessentially Barsac with a satisfying, long aftertaste.
