Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux

Intense and bedded down, plenty of intent in these tannins, high intensity with liquorice, cocoa bean, slate, blackcurrant and bilberry fruit. Closed in right now, needs to soften over ageing. New owners for the past few years, the Helfrich family, and there are plenty of investments happening at du Tertre right now. 60% new oak.

Lisa Perrotti-Brown, The Wine Independent

The 2022 du Tertre is deep garnet-purple in color. It needs some coaxing to bring out notes of plum preserves, warm cassis, and raspberry coulis, plus touches of garrigue and fragrant earth. The medium-bodied palate has impressive poise, with expressive black fruit and a soft texture, finishing with a lively lift.

Neal Martin, Vinous

The 2022 Chateau du Tertre has an attractive bouquet with blackcurrant, bilberry and pastille-like purity. It opens nicely in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins on the entry, sous-bois and cedar aromas. It's linear toward the finish with moderate length. Maybe just a little conservative now, but I admire that correctness. It's Bordeaux, after all!

Château du Tertre

Château du Tertre

Located at the edge of Margaux, and neighbouring those of Cantenac-Brown and Brane-Cantenac, Chateau Du Tertre’s 52 hectares of vineyards have remained unchanged since 1855. In 1997, Eric Albada Jelgersman, a Dutch businessman, bought the area and made significant investments in order to rejuvenate the estate. The average age of vines are 35 years old that are traditionally thinned, harvested by hand and then aged in oak barrels for about 15 to 18 months.
