Le Blanc de Duhart-Milon, 2025
Le Blanc de Duhart has not been part of the Rothschild portfolio for long, but it is a smart addition. The 2025 contains a very high proportion of Sémillon, which you feel in the texture and weight. White grapefruit, peach, lemon and pear are complemented by vanilla, almond and white flowers on the nose and palate. There is density and a pleasant richness that is tamed by mid-palate green apple citrus zip. 68% Sémillon, 31% Sauvignon Blanc and 1% Sauvignon Gris.
critic reviews
The 2025 Le Blanc de Duhart-Milon constitutes the fifth vintage from regrafted vines on cooler, late-ripening limestone soils, mainly Sémillon with 15% malo. It has a well-defined bouquet, perhaps more primal than previous vintages at this stage, leesy with touches of apple blossom. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, bright acids, again, a little more lees than before, but that leads to a complex, stem ginger tinged finish that lingers in the mouth. Very fine.
Apricot pit, nectarine, fennel, liquorice root, so juicy and easy to love, with lift and a tightening that adds focus and length on the finish. 37hl/ha yields, harvest August 22, followed by a few plots of Sémillon which were picked September 1. 10% of malolactic fermentation.
A blend of 68% Sémillon, 31% Sauvignon Blanc and 1% Sauvignon Gris, the 2025 Le Blanc de Duhart-Milon offers up aromas of confit citrus, white fruits and lemon verbena. Medium-bodied and juicy, it’s built around a tensile profile with a lively core of fruit, concluding with a long, citrus-inflected finish. Around 10% underwent malolactic fermentation.
