Le Grand Village Blanc, Vin de France Blanc, 2025
Grand Village is a perennial over-achiever. It is often quite bombastic from barrel, however, the 2025 was more reserved and reticent on the nose; opening up with a bit of air it demonstrates a ripe and rich aromatic profile of melon, peach and nectarine. There’s a lime, citrus zing on the palate that lasts long on the finish, with wild herbs, nutmeg and a salty minerality. 84% Sauvignon Blanc and 16% Sémillon. The Sauvignon was picked from August 19th to 22nd, while the Sémillon was all picked on August 19th.
critic reviews
The 2025 Grand Village Blanc was picked from August 19 to 22. It has a relatively light nose that opens with scents of Conference pear and apple blossom that gain intensity with aeration. The palate is bright and perky with lime and green apple notes, a keen line of acidity and a citrus-fresh finish that leaves you wanting more. The nose just needs to come out of its shell, but the palate is "happening".
Subtle undertow of grated ginger, a ton of fragrant citrus and elderflower blossom, lemon zest and white tea. There is a grip and an energy, hard not to suggest everyone rushes out and buys this white wine. 65% new oak.
The 2025 Grand Village Blanc shows a more pronounced Sauvignon Blanc influence than usual, revealing aromas of spring flowers, mint and ripe orchard fruits, with a touch of exotic fruit. Medium- to full-bodied, tense and lively, it offers a less dense palate than the previous vintage, privileging an energetic, linear core of fruit and concluding with a long, mouthwatering finish.
