    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note

In 2016 Haut Brion Blanc appears to offer much more exotic, spiced fruit and rich, mouth filling presence than the Mission Blanc, perhaps the result of their older vines. Where Mission offers line and length, HBB is all breadth and texture, long, graceful and regal. It’s a grand wine by any measure. The concentration here is spectacular while the staggering richness and layers of flavour are offset by discreet acidity, a sensational texture and a fine finishing mineralité. The blend is 71% Sauvignon Blanc, 29% Semillon, with 35% of the blend aged in new oak.

    Critic Reviews

    Neal Martin,
    Vinous
The 2016 Haut-Brion Blanc is rather closed on the nose and lacks the personality of other dry white Bordeaux in the flight. The palate is balanced but quite simple compared to previous showings. Quite spicy in the mouth, with an oily texture, but I would have liked more body and depth toward the finish, and certainly more tension. I will reserve judgment on this as I think the bottle was just not performing. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.
