The 2025 Malescot St. Exupéry was tasted on two occasions. The first bottle did not seem representative, the second at the château was better. This was picked from September 10 to 24 and matured in 45% new oak barrels. It offers vivacious, predominantly red berry fruit on the nose, wild strawberry and raspberry, nudging towards a Côtes de Nuits in some ways. Very pure and quite sensual. The palate is medium-bodied, with sappy red berry fruit and quite grippy tannins. Impressive depth and structure, a larger-framed Malescot St. Exupery with a tangible, sapid, black olive-tinged finish.
Deep and intense plum colour, grilled sandalwood and cedar, dried oregano and cranberry fruit, with firm tannins that offer Left Bank architecture but the acidity needs to soften further. Yield 25 hl/ha
A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot and 6% Petit Verdot, the 2025 Château Malescot St. Exupéry offers up aromas of sweet blackberries, plums, pencil shavings and licorice. Medium- to full-bodied, rich and fleshy, with a sun-kissed core of fruit and powdery structuring tannins, it's a dramatic, generous, crowd-pleasing style of Margaux.
