Château Moulin Riche, St Julien, 2011

The 2011 Moulin Riche is crafted from 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot. This wine is produced from a 22 hectare parcel at the north of the St Julien commune next to Batailley. This terroir will never produce such deep, profound wines as the Grand Vin, so the wine-making team are careful to extract gently and produce a charming, perfumed, sexy St Julien for earlier consumption than the Leoville Poyferre. The 2011 is a terrific example displaying a lovely floral bouquet with hints of plums and incense. Packed with juicy fruit extract, this has ample density, a suave texture and silky balancing tannins. An excellent little wine to enjoy in a few years time.
