Château Moulin St Georges, St Emilion, 2010
Moulin St Georges occupies a great position just to the south east of St Emilion town on clay and limestone soils. The cepage is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc with yields of just 21 hl/ha. This is an absolute beauty, brimming with energy and life. On the nose there are notes of liqueur fruit, fine herbs and dark cherries. On the palate there is pure, svelte hedgerow fruit, cool cassis notes and sweet berries. This is a very precise, linear, chiselled example, which is very stylish and possesses real class. Excellent.
critic reviews
Even the colour is very different from the 2009, this is the powerful, intense, a ton of chocolate, great quality, with undergrowth and spiced rosemary, with violet and peony character. Cabernet Franc is speaking with a loudest voice here. Needs carafing to really oen, these tannins are still pretty front of month.
Bright dark red. Aromas of licorice, espresso and herbs, with a hint of blue fruits in the background. Nicely balanced but not especially rich or concentrated, with fresh dark berry flavors framed by harmonious acidity. Finishes with slightly dusty tannins and a hint of something green. Disappointing in the context of the vintage.
