The 2023 Sénéjac was bottled at the end of May. It has an open-knit bouquet with brambly red berry fruit and briar, just a touch of cinnamon in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with gentle grip. Just a little earthiness toward the finish, a touch of black pepper lingering on the aftertaste. Not quite as long-term as I estimated from barrel but still a decent Sénéjac that will hopefully develop a bit more weight on the back end.
Smooth tannins, this delivers on En Primeur promise, the tannins are still very much in play, suggest giving a good few years to really soften, but this has a ton of grip and character, rose stem, liquorice, blueberry, blackberry, graphite, mint leaf. Nancy Bignon Cordier, also owner of Château Talbot in St Julien. A value, one to look out for.
A blend based on 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2023 Senejac exhibits notes of dark berries, red cherries and pipe tobacco, followed by a medium to full-bodied, lively and fleshy palate that's bright, supple and charming. It's a strong effort.
