Deep garnet in color, the 2009 Clos L'Eglise explodes with baked plums, boysenberry preserves, and black cherry compote notes, leading to suggestions of menthol, mocha, star anise, and incense. Big, rich, and full-bodied on the palate, it has firm, ripe, rounded tannins and beautiful freshness, finishing very long and spicy.

The 2009 Clos l’Eglise is well defined, focused and energetic on the nose. Brambly red berry fruit lace up with black truffle, sous-bois, mint and crushed stone. The palate is very well balanced with melted tannins, a fine bead of acidity. Harmonious with layers of raspberry coulis, strawberry, white pepper and sage. Fine precision on the finish, this 2009 is à point and should continue to improve. Excellent. Tasted at the Clos l’Eglise vertical.

    Clos l'Eglise

There are just 6 hectares of vines at Clos L’Eglise planted with 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Franc on clay and gravel soils. Helene Garcin-Leveque has invested heavily in this estate. With such exceptional terroir it is probably only a matter of time before this 1250 case cuvee becomes one of the superstars of the commune.
