The 2015 Le Pin never clicks into gear on the nose. There are hints of red berry fruit, sage and a touch of wild mint but they need to coalesce more. The palate is medium-bodied with a smooth and harmonious entry, though the vanillary oak is too vocal, which slightly curtails the finish. Tasted blind at the 2015 Bordeaux Ten-Year-On tasting at Farr Vintners.

Lush, opulent waves of fully ripe fruits wash over you with an approaching-maturity Le Pin, and this is one to strap in to for the full sensory experience. White pepper and sage spice, fresh figs and crushed raspberries, layers of cocoa bean and tobacco, with a sharper mandarin peel and slate finish. Gorgeous, a benchmark in this tasting.
