Maranges, La Fussière, 1er Cru, Rouge, 2016
Convivial, generous and fragrant. Open-knit flavours of wild strawberries, cherries and with a touch of violet. So juicy and red fruit-dominated, more so than previous vintages with complex herb and undergrowth notes. Earlier picking and less new oak have allowed for a more lively and delicate wine. Beautiful. Fermented with 25% whole bunches. a little more than in 2015, and rearing is in 25% new oak barrels.
critic reviews
The 2016 Maranges 1er Cru La Fussiere is showing very well from bottle, bursting from the glass with a lavish bouquet of plums, sweet spices and dried flowers. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and layered, with a generous, gourmand profile balanced by succulent acids. It concludes with a sapid, youthfully chewy finish. This is a superb red Maranges that represents terrific value.
