    Geographically the other side of the appellation to Charmes, and stylistically, too. This is all about very fine, poised, intricate flavours. Notes of black cherry, violet, red berry and plum skin, wrapped in the most glorious, fluffy tannins. A beauty. Next to the Chassagne border, Les Prarons is situated just under Clos des Tavannes and is planted with 50 year old vines.

    The 2022 Santenay Les Prarons-Dessus has an enticing bouquet, the 30% whole bunches discrete and enmeshed, raspberry and wild strawberry mixed with light lavender aromas. The medium-bodied palate has a sapid entry, but it feels quite pliant with black pepper and clove towards the finish. Quite "solid" at the moment; give this a few months to settle once in bottle. Very fine.
