Fine red fruits and salty mineral notes, delicate spice and a haunting finish. Much more translucent and lacier than the Charmes, with upper register fruit and the slightest note of orange peel. Geographically the other side of the appellation to Charmes, and stylistically, too

The 2022 Santenay Les Prarons-Dessus has an enticing bouquet, the 30% whole bunches discrete and enmeshed, raspberry and wild strawberry mixed with light lavender aromas. The medium-bodied palate has a sapid entry, but it feels quite pliant with black pepper and clove towards the finish. Quite "solid" at the moment; give this a few months to settle once in bottle. Very fine.
