The 2005 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has a clean, fresh and quite vibrant bouquet that frankly shows up in many of the other 2005s. Raspberry preserve, blackcurrant and just a slight confit-like note, all with fine delineation. The oak is nicely integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannin, quite fresh and tensile, a mixture of red and black fruit with a poised and quite sustained finish. Excellent. Tasted at the Clos de Vougeot retrospective at Clos de Vougeot.
