Chambolle Musigny, Les Charmes, 1er Cru, 2019
Bottled as a standalone wine for the first time in 2019 after Bruno first acquired a small plot in 2018. Having seen a full vintage under the Clair regime Charmes is now deemed ready to release as a single vineyard wine. And, wow, what a debut! So refined and classy on the nose, the 2019 mixes elegant, lacy ripe fruit with finely pitched sweet floral perfumes. Ripe red plum and apple skin combines with black raspberry and a leafy, herbal note making it an enticing wine to taste. On the palate, a little oak spice and toast is still to be subsumed but the graceful, sweet tannins and measure of the fruit with its smooth velvety texture, well-integrated alcohol and salty finish signals a great future for this new cuvee. A south easterly, stony vineyard in the heart of the Chambolle appellation.
critic reviews
The 2019 Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes 1er Cru is a new fermage for Bruno Clair. It has just been racked and so the aromatics are difficult to read, however the palate is well balanced with crunchy black fruit laced with graphite, quite precise with fine salinity on the finish. Great potential.
