Gevrey-Chambertin, Clos Saint-Jacques, 1er Cru, 2009
One of Gevrey’s great Premiers Crus situated high up on the slope, many believe it to be more deserving of Grand Cru status than a number of Gevrey’s more dubious Grands Crus. Wonderfully high-toned aromas of cherry blossom, very classy, sensational flavours of small berries, red cherry, morello, damson and sloe with strong mineral highlights, beautifully scented, refined but incredibly powerful, this shows great distinction. One of the wines of the vintage.
critic reviews
The 2009 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos St. Jacques is showing just a fraction of its true personality. Dark red fruit, minerals, and flowers come together in this textured, highly expressive Burgundy. There is an element of elusiveness that slowly gains clarity in the glass. The flavors build beautifully to the round, inviting finish. This is truly gorgeous juice.
