Gevrey Chambertin, 2019
A beautiful example of Gevrey, a really very accomplished and well balanced villages. This offers so much for its level, for despite the fullsome ripe fruit you’d expect from the vintage, there is a lively note to the fruit which helps prolong the finish. The palate offers a basket full of fresh red and dark forest berries, sweet but crunchy damsons and a levelling undergrowth hint. Hugely impressive villages, what great value this is. This comes from two plots on rich clay soils, Les Carrougots and En Jouise.
critic reviews
The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Village, from three lieux-dits, has a strict, rather backward nose that refused to "come out and play". The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy black fruit, a nice touch of bitterness on the finish. It will need a year in bottle before it begins to entertain drinkability.
