Aromatic, lifted fresh red berry fruit characterises this wine; breezy and refreshing notes of alpine berry, loganberry and cherry skip across the palate. Airy, alive and graceful, this is a charming Gevrey that leaves your palate energised. A fabulous Premier Cru situated at the top of the hill just above Ruchottes-Chambertin. Stony soils in a lofty position close to the woods, and an east/south-east exposition yield a racy, fresh elegant style of Gevrey. Destemmed.

The 2020 Gevrey Chambertin Belair 1er Cru has a pretty nose with sous-bois infused brambly red fruit; the oak and stem addition here are neatly integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, crisp acidity, a little foursquare on the finish, but there is real class and classicism in this Belair. Recommended.
